How that compares to a riding or zero-turn mower

Here's the part most people don't expect: our robots cost about the same as the gas mower you'd buy to do the work yourself. A residential riding or zero-turn from a name brand runs anywhere from $3,200 to $12,000+: a Toro TimeCutter or Cub Cadet Ultima ZT2 starts around $3,000–$3,800, a 60-inch Toro TimeCutter MAX lands near $5,700, and a premium John Deere Z700-series like the Z760R tops $11,000. And that's before fuel, oil changes, blade sharpening, storage space, and the hours you'll spend in the seat every week.

Start on any Serene subscription, add a small ownership surcharge on top, and every dollar of that surcharge goes toward owning the exact mower already running on your lawn. 1. Subscribe and start mowing. Pick the plan that fits your property — we install the matching robot and it goes to work immediately.
2. A 30% surcharge builds your ownership credit. Your normal subscription keeps covering maintenance visits, blade replacements, GPS monitoring, and support — exactly as it always has. On top of that you add 30%, and all of it is credited toward the mower's purchase price.
3. Reach the price, own the mower. When your accrued credit equals the manufacturer purchase price, the robot is yours to keep — no balloon payment, no markup.
4. Or buy out early, anytime. Want it sooner? Pay the difference between the purchase price and the credit you've already built, and ownership transfers on the spot.

How long until it's yours?

On a lease-to-own plan your monthly payment splits 70/30: 70% is your normal Serene subscription — the service, maintenance, and monitoring you'd pay for anyway — and an extra 30% is added on top as ownership credit that builds equity in the mower until it's fully paid off. Here's roughly how it pencils out for each tier:

Estimates assume the 30% ownership surcharge is applied in full as credit and exclude taxes and optional add-ons. Lease-to-own monthly figures are the subscription plus that surcharge; most members reach full ownership in roughly 2½ to 3½ years, and can buy out the remaining balance at any point to own sooner.

After you own it

Keep the service, drop the equity portion. Once the mower is yours, you can step down to a maintenance-only plan for upkeep, blades, and monitoring — or take over care entirely. It's your machine either way.
