How that compares to a riding or zero-turn mower

Here's the part most people don't expect: our robots cost about the same as the gas mower you'd buy to do the work yourself. A residential riding or zero-turn from a name brand runs anywhere from $3,200 to $12,000+: a Toro TimeCutter or Cub Cadet Ultima ZT2 starts around $3,000–$3,800, a 60-inch Toro TimeCutter MAX lands near $5,700, and a premium John Deere Z700-series like the Z760R tops $11,000. And that's before fuel, oil changes, blade sharpening, storage space, and the hours you'll spend in the seat every week.

Traditional riding / zero-turn
$3,200–$12,000+
  • You ride it β€” 1–3 hours of your weekend, every week
  • Gas, oil, filters, and blade sharpening on you
  • Loud, hot, and needs a shed or garage bay
  • Depreciates the day you roll it home
A Serene robot mower
$1,999–$6,849
  • It mows itself β€” quietly, daily, while you do anything else
  • Maintenance, blades, and monitoring handled by us
  • No fuel, no fumes, parks on a small charging base
  • Subscription from $150/mo, or lease-to-own from $214/mo until it's yours

Riding and zero-turn prices reflect 2026 manufacturer and dealer pricing for residential models from Toro, Cub Cadet, and John Deere; figures are illustrative, vary by deck size and dealer, and exclude ongoing fuel and maintenance costs.

Or lease to own β€” pay it off as you mow

Not ready to drop thousands up front? Start on any Serene subscription, add a small ownership surcharge on top, and every dollar of that surcharge goes toward owning the exact mower already running on your lawn. You get a perfect lawn from day one, and steadily build equity toward owning the machine outright. Want the exact figures for your budget? Use the lease-to-own calculator.

  1. Subscribe and start mowing. Pick the plan that fits your property β€” we install the matching robot and it goes to work immediately.
  2. A 30% surcharge builds your ownership credit. Your normal subscription keeps covering maintenance visits, blade replacements, GPS monitoring, and support β€” exactly as it always has. On top of that you add 30%, and all of it is credited toward the mower's purchase price.
  3. Reach the price, own the mower. When your accrued credit equals the manufacturer purchase price, the robot is yours to keep β€” no balloon payment, no markup.
  4. Or buy out early, anytime. Want it sooner? Pay the difference between the purchase price and the credit you've already built, and ownership transfers on the spot.

How long until it's yours?

On a lease-to-own plan your monthly payment splits 70/30: 70% is your normal Serene subscription β€” the service, maintenance, and monitoring you'd pay for anyway β€” and an extra 30% is added on top as ownership credit that builds equity in the mower until it's fully paid off. Here's roughly how it pencils out for each tier:

Plan Mower you own Purchase price Lease-to-own / mo Ownership credit / mo (30%) Time to ownership

Mammotion LUBA 2 AWD $1,999 $214 $64 ~31 months

Yarbo Y40 Lawn Mower $4,199 $429 $129 ~33 months

Yarbo Y40 All-Season Pro $6,849 $536 $161 ~43 months

Estimates assume the 30% ownership surcharge is applied in full as credit and exclude taxes and optional add-ons. Lease-to-own monthly figures are the subscription plus that surcharge; most members reach full ownership in roughly 2Β½ to 3Β½ years, and can buy out the remaining balance at any point to own sooner.

Run your own numbers

After you own it

Keep the service, drop the equity portion. Once the mower is yours, you can step down to a maintenance-only plan for upkeep, blades, and monitoring β€” or take over care entirely. It's your machine either way.

Professional installation, always included. Whether you buy outright or lease to own, our team maps your yard, sets GPS boundaries, and installs the charging station so it works from day one.

Manufacturer warranty stays with you. Every unit is covered by the manufacturer's full warranty, which carries through to you on ownership.

Buy it, or earn it. Your call.
